Read More	Chester Herald (Chester, NE), Thursday, February 2, 1939; pg. 4 BYRON NEWS MEYER - HOOPS A very beautiful wedding took place at the St. Peter's Lutheran Church, on Sunday evening, January 22nd, at 6:30 o'clock, when Miss Ruby Meyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Meyer, was united in marriage to Mr. Edwin Hoops. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Hoefer in the presence of relatives and friends. The wedding march was played by Walter Hoblemann. The bride was attired in a floor-length gown of peach taffeta and wore a wreath of flowers in her hair and carried a boquet (sic) of carnations, white lilies, snapdragons, baby wreath and fernery with streamers tied with snapdragons. Miss Wilma Meyer, sister of the bride, and Miss Olinda Hoops, niece of the groom, acted as bridesmaids. Miss Meyer wore a frock of blue satin with a net jacket, and Miss Hoops wore a floor-length gown of orchid taffeta. The two little flower girls, Verla and Leora Kettelhut, nieces of the groom, wore yellow crepe dresses with hair ribbon to match and carried a basket of flowers. Martin Hoops, nephew of the groom, and Walter Meyer, brother of the bride, served as best men. After the ceremony the bridal party and about sixty guests proceeded to the home of the bride's parents, where an enjoyable evening was spent. Later in the evening a lovely lunch was served. EDWIN HOOPS BYRON, Neb. - The funeral for Mrs. Ruby Hoops, 58, rural Chester, Neb., will be at 2 pm Monday at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Byron, Neb. Burial will be in the Byron cemetery. Mrs. Hoops died Thursday at her home. She was born March 27, 1919, at Hardy, Neb. Surviving are the widower, Edwin, of the home; her father, Henry Meyer, Deshler, Neb.; a son, Lee, rural Chester; 4 daughters, Mrs. Fern Bohling, Hebron, Neb.; Mrs. Deanna Hobelmann, Republic, Kas.; Mrs. Jeanne Gehle, Chester; and Mrs. Janice Reinke, Byron; 4 brothers, Victor Meyer, Loveland, Colo.; Raymond Meyer, Deshler; and Laverne and Orville Meyer, both of Ruskin, Neb.; 4 sisters, Mrs. Mildred Hoops, Deshler: Mrs. Rudolph Fangmeier and Mrs. Bruno Fangmeier, both of Hebron, and Mrs. Bernard Betten, Oak, Neb. The family suggests memorials to the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Byron. Friends may call at the Bachelor- Faulkner-Dart funeral home, Belleville. =================== The Belleville Telescope (Belleville, KS), Thursday, May 12, 1977; pg. 22 Ruby Hoops Ruby Tena Sophia Meyer was born on March 27, 1919 to Henry W. and Fanny Johnson Meyer at their farm home northeast of Hardy, Nebr., in Nuckolls County. She was baptized at the St. Peter's Lutheran church (sic), March 30, 1919 and retained lifetime membership. She attended Ash Grove school, southeast of Byron, where she finished her eight grades. January 22, 1939 she married Edwin Hoops, they had five children: Mrs. Dean (Deanna Faye) Hobelman, Mrs. Lavon (Fern Elaine) Bohling, Mrs. Jim (Maria Jean) Gehle, Lee Duane and Mrs. Delmar (Janice Lynn) Reinke. She was preceded in death by her mother and two brothers, Walter and Richard Meyer. Survivors are: her husband, Edwin, her children and 12 grandchildren. Her father, Henry Meyer and step-mother Elsa of Deshler, four sisters, Mildred Hoops of Deshler; Mrs. Rudolph (Wilma) Fangmeier of Hebron; Mrs. Bernard (Anita) Betten of Oak; Mrs. Bruno (Betty) Fangmeier of Hebron; four brothers, Victor Meyer of Loveland, Colo.; Raymond Meyer of Deshler; Lavern Meyer of Ruskin and Orville Meyer of Ruskin. Funeral services were held, Monday, May 9 at 2:00 p.m., at St. Paul Lutheran church (sic) of Byron with Pastor B. F. Mirtz officiating. Interment was made in St. Paul cemetery (sic).
