Read More	DOUGLAS — Rudolph Arnold Brickner, 92, rural Douglas, passed away March 15, 2012, at St Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, at Peace Lutheran Church, Garrison. Burial will be at the Garrison City Cemetery. Rudy was born March 14, 1920, in rural Douglas to John and Marie (Wollmuth) Brickner. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in rural Douglas and was educated at a Douglas Township school. Rudy married Mae Todd on June 22, 1957, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Douglas. They made their home south of Douglas where they farmed and raised their son, Alan. Rudy actively farmed for many years and experienced many changes in his life from seeding the fields with horses to combining canola at age 91 in August of 2011. Rudy spent most of his life on the Brickner farm and in 2009 he received a certificate recognizing it as a North Dakota Centennial Farm. It was a great honor for him as he was a proud homesteader's son. Rudy served on the Douglas Township Board as well as the Garrison Rural Fire District Board. He was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in rural Douglas and later was a trustee and an elder at Peace Lutheran Church in Garrison. He was also active in Lutheran Laymen's League at Peace Lutheran. When Rudy wasn't farming or volunteering, his interest turned to cars. He liked all kinds of cars, but really enjoyed the classics and remembered many of the details about them. Over the years he also enjoyed going to Indiana to visit his many relatives and also out to the west coast to spend time with relatives. Rudy enjoyed visiting and often had a story or a joke to tell. Rudy is survived by his wife, Mae, and his son Alan, both of Douglas; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ervin; and sister, Agnes Arvidson.
