Description	:	Russell James Hensing, age 83, of Iowa Falls, died on Monday, August 24, 2009 at the Presbyterian Village in Ackley. Services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday at the St. Mark's Catholic Church in Iowa Falls with burial in the St. Mark's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 P.M. Wednesday at the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls with a 7 P.M. Rosary Service. A memorial fund has been established. Military rites provided by the Hyman-Peavey American Legion Post #188 of Iowa Falls. Russell was born on July 25, 1926 on the family farm near Iowa Falls, Iowa the son of John and Clara (Keninger) Hensing. He graduated from the Iowa Falls High School in 1945. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Russell was united in marriage to Cleva Duit on September 20, 1949 at the St. Mark's Catholic Church in Iowa Falls. He was a rural mail carrier for many years before becoming Postmaster with the Iowa Falls Post Office and had farmed. Russell was a member of the St. Mark's Catholic Church, Hyman-Peavey American Legion Post #188 and the Knights of Columbus of which he was Past Grand Knight, Financial Secretary, District Deputy and Administrative Assistant at the State level. Russell is survived by his wife, Cleva; a son, Richard Hensing of Omaha, NE; two daughters, Sue Rentschler and her husband, Monte of La Crosse, WI and Tjodie Ehlers and her husband, Karl of Urbandale; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Albert and Edward Hensing and two sisters, Ethel Show and Laura Stang.
