Description	:	MESA, Ariz. — Russell L. Lindner, 85, of Holdrege, Neb., died Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, in Mesa. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church in Pleasanton, Neb., with the Rev. Dean Hanson officiating. Burial will be at Pleasanton Cemetery with military honors by Leo & Clinton Krotz Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9481 and Roy Eaton American Legion Post 321. Burial will be at Pleasanton Cemetery with military honors by Leo & Clinton Krotz Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9481 and Roy Eaton American Legion Post 321. Rasmussen Funeral Home in Ravenna is in charge of arrangements. He was born Nov. 17, 1927, in Buffalo County to Herman and Clara (Kreutzer) Lindner. On June 28, 1946, he married Dorathy "Dot" Dauel in Phillipsburg, Kan. She died Dec. 21, 2004. On Nov. 25, 2006, he married Shirley Benton in Pleasanton. Survivors include his wife; son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Anita Lindner of Hastings, Neb.; 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and sisters and brother-in-law, Lola Switay and Donna and Bill Hillyer, all of Mesa. He died peacefully at home with his family by his side. He graduated from Pleasanton High School. He served in the U.S. Army. He served for eight months in Korea. He and Dot lived in Kearney, Neb., and Pleasanton. He worked as a supervisor at West Co. in Kearney until his retirement in 1988. He and Shirley made their home in Holdrege and Mesa. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, camping, playing cards and bingo, and his family. In addition to his wife, Dot, he was preceded in death by one stepson.
