Description	:	Russell Wayne Chambers, son of Samuel F. and Lumida Chambers, was born at Bennet, Nebr., June 14, 1902, passed away May 17, 1956, at his home at Ephrata, Wash. at the age of 53 years, 11 months, and 3 days. Read More	Russell Wayne Chambers, son of Samuel F. and Lumida Chambers, was born at Bennet, Nebr., June 14, 1902, passed away May 17, 1956, at his home at Ephrata, Wash. at the age of 53 years, 11 months, and 3 days. After graduating from the Bennet high school, he moved with his parents and three sisters to Ashland where he was associated with his father in the hardware business until his health forced him to leave the store and go to New Mexico, where he received his B.A. degree from the New Mexico Highland University. He later received his M.A. degree from the University of Nebraska. On January 1, 1943, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Newland. Through the war years he was employed at the Heart Mountains, Wyo., Relocation Center. In March, 1946, he was transferred to Coulee Dam, Wash., and later to Ephrata, where he was employed by the Bureau of Reclamation. Although he was afflicted with arthritis for almost three decades, his courageous spirit and his interest in the welfare of others inspired him to a successful business and civic career. He recently received an award for an employee suggestion which would improve the processing of government vouchers for uniform allowances of federal guards. He was affiliated with saunders Lodge I.O.O.F. of Ashland, Nebr., the Ee Quip Sha Toastmasters club and the National Federation of Federal Employees, both in Ephrata, and the Coulee Dam Community church. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; three sisters, Flossie L. Gaines and Merna B. Chambers, both of Ashland, Cecile L. Rhoadarmer of Cooks, Wash; an aunt, Mrs. W.J. Flanagan of Lincoln; one niece and four nephews. Funeral services were held on Monday, May 21, from the Nicales Funeral Home with Rev. Calvin J. Sutherlin officiating.
