Description	:	Samueul Franklin Chambers was born March 23, 1872, at Rock Grove, Stephenson Co., Ill., and died December 15, 1936 at Ashland, Neb., aged 64 years, eight months and 22 days. At the age of six, he came with his parents and their family to Bennet, Neb., where he grew to manhood. Read More	Samueul Franklin Chambers was born March 23, 1872, at Rock Grove, Stephenson Co., Ill., and died December 15, 1936 at Ashland, Neb., aged 64 years, eight months and 22 days. At the age of six, he came with his parents and their family to Bennet, Neb., where he grew to manhood. In that community he engaged in agricultural and mercantile pursuits until 1922, when he and his family moved to Ashland, Nebr., where he was a hardware and furniture dealer until the time of his death. On December 31, 1896, he was united in marriage to Lula M. Hiatt who for nearly forty years has been his constant companion. To this union were born four children. During his entire life he was a consistent Christian, having united with the church while young and holding membership in the Congregational church at the time of his death. He was Past Noble Grand in the I.O.O.F. and enjoyed its fellowship and exemplified its precepts. A very unassuming man, but a well informed citizen from much reading, he drew his own conclusions regardless of popular opinion. He served both communities in which he lived in various capacities; for several years a member of board of education, and at numerous times church and civic official. All his plans centered about his home, always solicitous for the comfort and welfare of every member of his family. Those who mourn his departure are; his faithful wife; his children Cecile L. and Russell W. of Las Vegas, New Mex., Merna B. at home, Mrs. Flossie L. Gaines of Crab Orchard, Nebr., a sister Mrs. W. J. Flanagan of Lincoln, Neb.; and two brothers, Ernest A. and Jos. L. of Bennet, Neb.; many other relatives and a host of friends. The funeral was held in the Congregational church at Ashland on Thursday afternoon, Dec. 17, the Rev. J. M. Dickey delivering the sermon. "Going Home" was played on the organ by Miss Jane Grebe and "Abide With Me" and "The City Four-Square" were sung by Mr. and Mrs. Steven Gaines. Pallbearers from the I.O.O.F. Lodge were Curt Hackney, Fred Hackney, E.C. Ehrenhard, Ed Gustafson, Miller Sherman, and George Harmon. Interment was in the Bennet cemetery.
