Description	:	Ruth Alice was born April 3, 1908, the daughter of Albert and Ada (Manchester) Todd, in Delaware County. She graduated from Coggon High School and from the State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. Ruth Alice taught in rural schools in Buchanan County. Later, she attended John Fletcher College at University Park, Iowa. She then worked for the Printograph Company in Kansas City, traveling to every state selling advertising for cookbooks. She graduated from Coggon High School and from the State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. Ruth Alice taught in rural schools in Buchanan County. Later, she attended John Fletcher College at University Park, Iowa. She then worked for the Printograph Company in Kansas City, traveling to every state selling advertising for cookbooks. Ruth Alice retired in 1979 to her home in Coggon. Ruth Alice was a member of Silver Creek Methodist Church, Coggon Historical Society, United Methodist Women, and the Republican Party. She was also active with the Coggon Senior Citizens. Ruth Alice greatly enjoyed her travels to Europe with relatives and traveling throughout the United States visiting friends and relatives. Ruth Alice passed away May 14, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Survivors include three nieces and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ella Emerson and Lottie Hawkins; and two nieces, June Emerson and Marjorie Cooksley. Services were held at United Parish, Coggon, Iowa, with Rev. Thelma Subramanian officiating. Casket bearers were Laverne Cooksley, Ronald Cooksley, James Hammond, Paul Deutmeyer, Ray Kelsey and Jeffrey Stoddard. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural Coggon. Service arrangements were by Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Central City, Iowa.
