Read More	Funeral Services Held For Mrs. Ruth Beck Local Pioneer Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Beck, 91, were held at the Ree Heights Congregational Church Sunday, Dec. 13, at 2:30 p.m., with the rev. Norman Kirsch officiating. Burial was in the GAR Cemetery in Miller. Ruth Sanders was born September 5, 1873, to George and Mary Sanders of Washington, Pa. As a child she came with her parents to South Dakota settling in Loomis township, Highmore. She was married to William Beck January 12, 1898. They made their home for several years where their son, Jesse, now lives. Later they built up a home now known as the Jennings Ranch, northwest of Ree Heights. She lived in Ree Heights township for 80 years, the last 20 years making her home in Ree Heights until ill health forced her to move to Prairie Center in Miller where she died at the age of 91 years, three months, and four days. She is survived by three sons, Howard and Jesse of Ree Heights, and Irving of Marysville, Wash.; one daughter, Mrs. Frank (Hazel) Hammill of Ree Heights; eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Dan Melvin, Blunt, and Mrs. Gwendolyne Fribley, Chicago, Ill.; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband December 5, 1943, and one grandson in Marysville, Wash. Pallbearers were grandsons Bruce Hammil, Kent Hammill, Delton Beck, Dean Beck, and Warren Beck and one great-grandson, Bob Hammill. Honorary pallbearers were Edwin Hadler, Aaron Burge, Ed Suhn, Hugh Gardner, Orville Hill, and Harry Kroning. Here for the funeral from out-of-town were: Mr. and Mrs. Dan Melvin and family, Blunt; Mr. and Mrs. Kent Hammill and family, Rapid City; Irving Beck, Marysville, Wash.; Mrs. Norman Fink and son, Calvin, Farmington, N. Mex.; Mr. and Mrs. J.J. Williams, Custer; Could Williams, Rochford; Mrs. Bee Dunwoody and Glenn Williams, Spearfish; Ted Plucket, Sturgis; and a number of nieces and nephews from away.
