She was born June 9, 1935, at Plainview, the daughter of Henry Joseph and Myrtle Rose (Jordan) Purdie. She was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church, Pierce. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1953, attended the University of Nebraska and Wayne State College and graduated summa cum laud in 1979. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1953, attended the University of Nebraska and Wayne State College and graduated summa cum laud in 1979. She married Val Jean Wragge on July 27, 1957, in Plainview. He died Oct. 26, 2014. The couple lived in Pierce. Ruth Ann taught school for 36 years in Antelope and Pierce counties. She ended her career teaching the last 20 years in Hadar Public School, then substituted for 15 years. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Pierce, where she taught Sunday school, directed the children’s choir, taught Bible School, directed the adult church choir many years, was a member of Ladies Aid, belonged to Mrs. Jaycees Women’s Club, Library Board, Library Foundation when the new library was built, directed the community choir for many years and belonged to Pierce Community Golf Course serving in various offices. Ruth Ann enjoyed golfing, cooking and baking, especially her potato salad and German chocolate cake, playing bridge, marbles, dimes, reading and, as a couple, spending their winters in Arizona. She was preceded in death by her husband Val Jean Wragge; two sons Mitchell and Randall Wragge; her parents, Henry and Myrtle; and one brother Dawne Purdie.
