Description	:	Funeral services for Ruth Horstman, 90, Beatrice, formerly of Creighton, were held Friday at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul Banitt officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. She died February 11, 1991 at the PEO Home in Beatrice. Ruth Horstman was born February 16, 1900 at Newcastle, the daughter of Vern and Bertha (Taylor) Baker. She lived with her parents on a ranch in western North Dakota and graduated from Dickinson, ND High School. She attended Dickinson State Teacher College, Jamestown College in North Dakota and Drake University in Iowa. She taught school in Creighton for two years before marrying... She died February 11, 1991 at the PEO Home in Beatrice. Ruth Horstman was born February 16, 1900 at Newcastle, the daughter of Vern and Bertha (Taylor) Baker. She lived with her parents on a ranch in western North Dakota and graduated from Dickinson, ND High School. She attended Dickinson State Teacher College, Jamestown College in North Dakota and Drake University in Iowa. She taught school in Creighton for two years before marrying William Horstman on July 3, 1927. They lived in Creighton until 1949, when they moved to North Dakota and then Pella, IA. Mr. Horstman died in 1961. Mrs. Horstman taught school in Pella until 1965, when she retired and returned to Creighton. In 1983 she moved to the PEO Retirement Home in Beatrice. She was a member of the PEO of Creighton and the Order of Eastern Star, Mount Vernon Chapter 84 of Plainview. Survivors include one son, William of Saint Charles, MO; one daughter, Mary Lou Huse of Newton, MA; two brothers, Vern E and Taylor, both of Spokane, WA; one sister, Frances Schwartz of Sun City, AZ; a sister-in-law, Helen Anderson of Creighton; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
