Ruth, daughter of Ben and Elizabeth (Fangman) Lechtenberg, was born August 13, 1920, at Templeton, Iowa. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Templeton. On August 13, 1940, Ruth was united in marriage with Oswald Kisgen at Templeton. Three children were born to this union. Ruth worked at several places, including Templeton Savings Bank and the City of Templeton. She then stayed at home to raise children and help her husband run Kisgen Oil Company. After the business was sold in 1988, Ruth became an avid card player, enjoying various card clubs and trips to visit her children and grandchildren. Ruth was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish of Templeton, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Parish Ladies Guild and Hospital Auxiliary. After the death of her husband Oswald in 1998, she was able to remain at home until 2017 when she became a resident of Sunnybrook Assisted Living in Carroll, where she passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019, at the age of 98. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Oswald, brother, Alois Lechtenberg and sister, Elaine Prebeck. Ruth is survived by her three children: Sharon; James (Jean); Kay (Ronald); six grandchildren: Stephen (Ann); Douglas (Katrina); Darren (Lauren); Laura (Eric); Eric (Ngoc); Lisa; five great-granddaughters: Cassandra, Melissa, Olivia, Caroline and Elly; eight great-grandsons: Alexander, Joseph, Kyle, Caden, Mitchell, Thomas, Cole and Liam; and her brother, Daniel; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
