Description	:	Ruth D Wilson, 92, of Sterling, died Saturday morning, October 3, 2015 at the Johnson County Hospital in Tecumseh. She was born on February 8, 1923 on a farm seven miles southwest of Sterling. She attended Hopewell School District #40 and graduated from Sterling High School in 1940. Read More	Ruth D Wilson, 92, of Sterling, died Saturday morning, October 3, 2015 at the Johnson County Hospital in Tecumseh. She was born on February 8, 1923 on a farm seven miles southwest of Sterling. She attended Hopewell School District #40 and graduated from Sterling High School in 1940. On June 27, 1943 she married Warren Wilson. They lived and farmed northeast of Sterling until 1975 when they moved into Sterling. She worked for Kees Manufacturing, Swifts, Dick Shea Insurance, Farmers Union Store, Adams State Bank and was the assistant cook for over 30 years at the Tecumseh Care Center. She was a former member of Hopewell United Methodist Church of rural Sterling and the United Methodist Church of Sterling, where she taught Sunday School, was church custodian and member of the United Methodist Women. She volunteered at the Sterling Senior Diner and helped with Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed playing cards and dominoes. Survivors include one son, Wendell Wilson and wife Linda of Clovis, CA; three grandchildren, Wendell Todd Wilson, Shon Wilson and wife Sarah and Julie Wilson; seven great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Glen VanEngen of Adams; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Caroline Joekel Werner, her husband Warren, who died on November 17, 1988, two brothers, Milton and John Werner, and five sisters, Freda McAuliffe, Velma Buehler, Elda Sayler, Evangeline Oltman and Evelyn Oltman. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 8, 2015, at Hopewell United Methodist Church of rural Sterling with Rev. Rob Clark officiating. Burial will be at the Sterling Cemetery of Sterling. A family prayer service will be held at 10:45 A.M. Thursday at the church. A memorial has been established to Hopewell United Methodist Church and the Sterling Rescue Squad. The body will lie in state at the Zink-Fox Funeral Home on Wednesday from 8:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. and then one hour preceding the service at the church on Thursday. A guestbook for signatures and messages of condolence is available online at www.foxfuneralhome.net. Zink-Fox Funeral Home of Sterling is in charge of the arrangements.
