Description	:	Iowa MASON CITY — Ruth E. Katter, 97, of 302 2nd St. N.E., died Thursday (August 5, 2004) at the Good Shepherd Health Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 419 N. Delaware with the Rev. Mark Lavrenz officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church one hour before services. Memorials may be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Hospice of North Iowa. Memorials may be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Hospice of North Iowa. Ruth was born June 18, 1907, in Hancock County, Iowa the daughter of Herman and Adeline (Greinke) Lemke. She attended rural schools in Hancock County. Ruth married Henry Katter October 22, 1925, at Peace Reformed Church, rural Garner. Her husband died in 1937 leaving her to raise her three girls on the farm. She moved off the farm in 1950 and relocated to rural Clear Lake in 1969. She enjoyed her family and friends, life on the farm, cooking and baking, which she shared with everyone, crocheting, a strong faith in the Lord and gardening. Ruth is survived by her three daughters: LaVonne Etchen of Mason City, Luella Etchen of Clear Lake, Rachel Pope and husband, Richard, of Mason City; grandchildren, Cheryl Etchen, Debra Nelson and husband, Mark, Laurie Etchen, Teri Larson and husband, Mark, Daniel Pope, David Pope and wife, Kristie; four great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and many friends. Ruth's parents; husband; son, Henry; two brothers, Paul and Otto; three sisters, Elizabeth Haes, Martha Heimendinger, Esther Meyer; and son-in-law, Merle Etchen preceded her in death.
