She was born on Sept. 14, 1913 in Houcktown, Ohio, the daughter of John and Olli (Weidman) Sheldon. She graduated from Humboldt High School in 1931 and received a teaching degree from Pittsburg State Teachers College in Pittsburg, KS. She married Benjamin L. Barfoot on May 22, 1943 in Humboldt. He preceded her in death Feb. 15, 1985. She taught at Maple Grove School, east of Humboldt, and at several other rural schools in the Humboldt area.... She was born on Sept. 14, 1913 in Houcktown, Ohio, the daughter of John and Olli (Weidman) Sheldon. She graduated from Humboldt High School in 1931 and received a teaching degree from Pittsburg State Teachers College in Pittsburg, KS. She married Benjamin L. Barfoot on May 22, 1943 in Humboldt. He preceded her in death Feb. 15, 1985. She taught at Maple Grove School, east of Humboldt, and at several other rural schools in the Humboldt area. She was also employed as a teacher in Portland, Oregon, while her husband was overseas during World War II. She owned the Barfoot Lumber Company in Humboldt. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church where she played the church organ for many years, Thursday's Bridge Club, the P.E.O. and the Order of the Eastern Star Sunflower Chapter 170, all of Humboldt. She enjoyed gardening, reading, taking bus tours, playing bridge, cooking, and canning. Survivors include: four sons, Leon Barfoot of Lohfelden, Germany, Kirk Barfoot of Humboldt, KS, Scott Barfoot of Amarillo, TX, and Kent Barfoot of Humboldt, KS; one sister, Ruby Crosiant of Humboldt, KS; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Howard L. Sheldon. Funeral services will be Tuesday at the Presbyterian Church in Humboldt with the Rev. David Jenkins officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Humboldt, Kansas. Memorials are suggested to the Humboldt Public Library and may be left at the funeral home. Gibson-Koch-Friskel Chapel in Chanute, Kansas is in charge of arrangements. ***************************
