Ruth was born April 7, 1919 to Edwin "Ed" & Lillie Mabel (Peterson) Johnson on a farm two miles south and one mile east of Harvard, Nebraska. Holmes on November 22, 1941 and to this union was born sons, Gerald, Robert, and an infant son which died at birth. She then moved to Harvard, Nebraska until Grant returned from the Army and they moved to Hastings, Nebraska. In 1966, she moved to Kearney, Nebraska where she was employed at Holmes Plumbing & Heating Supply. After Grant's death, she moved back to Hastings, Nebraska. Ruth was preceded in death by: parents; husband, Grant E. Holmes; sons, Bob Holmes and infant son and sisters, Dorothy Weitzel and Marie Williams. Survivors are: Son: Gerald "Jerry" Holmes – Hastings, NE Grandchildren: Tanya Gary Great-Grandchild: Matthew and a host of family and friends. Services wree Monday, February 10, 2014; 10:30 A.M. at First United Methodist Church, Hastings, Nebraska with Rev. Dr. Samuel R. Rathod as officiator. Burial was in Sutton Cemetery, Sutton, Nebraska.
