Ruth was born on June 12, 1929 in Chadron, Ne. to Frederick and Margaret (Chaulk) Strong. She graduated from Assumption Academy in Chadron in 1945 and attended Chadron State College for a year. She taught at a country school near Chadron for a year. On October 1, 1948, she married Raymond "Joe" Jackson. They moved to Bridgeport in 1970. Ruth worked for the telephone company for 20 years, later as a social service worker, retiring in 1995. She was a member of the All Souls Catholic Church, Council of Catholic Women and National Right to Life. She was a wonderful artist and an avid reader. She enjoyed baking and crocheting. Ruth lived a creative life. She loved diversity, and delighted in hearing other languages and learning about other cultures. Her open-mindedness and non-judgmental attitudes made her an insightful, loving and humble person. She would share whatever she had with whomever needed it. Ruth lived as an example of honesty, dignity, and consideration of others. Nothing made her happier than spending time with the babies in her family. Survivors include her husband, Joe; children, Ted Jackson of Bridgeport, Becky (Stan) Goltl of Bridgeport, Mary Jackson of Scottsbluff, Dan Jackson of Ft. Collins and Bill (Melanie) Jackson of Ft. Collins; 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Amy Franklin, Carol Groves, Jenny (Keith) Gregory and Kathy (Steve) Nichols and brother, William (Virginia) Strong and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son, Thomas and daughter-in-law, Donna Jackson.
