She was born Dec. 31, 1919, on the family farm near Wynot to John and Rose (Schulte) Hochstein. She graduated from Holy Trinity High School, Hartington, in 1939. She attended secretarial school in Sioux City, Iowa. She married Irvin Huennekens Dec. 31, 1941. They lived in Oregon for one year, then moved to a farm south of Wynot. They operated a locker plant and a cafe in Wynot in the late 40s. They moved to Yankton in 1965. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Yankton, S.D., a member of Sacred Heart funeral choir and the Catholic Daughters of America. She also volunteered at Sacred Heart Hospital. Survivors included three sons: John, Yankton; Michael, Ft. Myers, Fla.; and Charles, Littleton, Colo.; six daughters, Carol (Mrs. Gerald) Promes, Carroll, Iowa; Connie (Mrs. Lonnie) Malasek, Thurston; Rose Mary (Mrs. Mike) Shreve, Moriarty, N.M.; Judy (Mrs. Mike) Bullan, Davenport, Iowa; Peggy (Mrs. Bill) Heimes, Yankton, S.D., and Lori (Mrs. Joe) Blomstrom, Rapid City, S.D.; five sisters, Mary (Mrs. Ralph) Wieseler, St. Helena; Rosine Pinkelman, Wynot; Viola Lammers, Fordyce; Freda (Mrs. Don) Hoss, LeMars, Iowa; and Delores Abbott, Hayward, Calif.; and three brothers: Fritz Hochstein, Wynot; John Hochstein Jr., Wayne; Donald Hochstein, Hartington; 23 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers, one sister and two grandchildren.
