Ruth was born on February 2, 1929, in Tomah, Wisconsin, the daughter of Ernest F. and Mabel (Pothast) Moeller. Ruth was baptized on March 9, 1929, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tomah by Pastor Richard Waldschmidt. Ruth was born on February 2, 1929, in Tomah, Wisconsin, the daughter of Ernest F. and Mabel (Pothast) Moeller. Ruth was baptized on March 9, 1929, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tomah by Pastor Richard Waldschmidt. The family moved to the Waverly area in 1936, where she attended country school through the 6th grade. Ruth attended St. Paul's Parochial School from 1940-42 and confirmed by Pastor R.C. Schluter and Pastor Otto Fangmeyer. She graduated from the Waverly High School in 1946, where she was working for R.C. Gaard until 1947. She was united in marriage to Gordon W. Foster at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly and to this union six children were born, David, Dianne, Bruce, Brian, Rebecca and Brenda. Gordon and Ruth bought their first 80 acre farm north of Waverly in 1949 and then 160 acre farm west of Bremer in 1961. Ruth also worked at Oberheu's Restaurant and Nelson Toenjes Law office. In 1984, they moved to an acreage northeast of Waverly; until 2013, when they moved into Waverly. Ruth was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly, where Ruth taught Sunday school with Gordon. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, raising flowers in her garden, and helping as a 4-H leader for many years. Spending time with her family, especially her grand and great grandchildren gave Ruth much joy and happiness. Ruth is survived by a daughter, Dianne (Richard) Cheeseman of Waverly; a son, Bruce (Elizabeth) Foster of Hudson, Massachusetts; a son, Brian (Patricia Koch) Foster of St. Peter, Minnesota; a daughter, Rebecca (David) Gade of Waverly and a daughter, Brenda Foster of Waverly; ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Ruth Moeller of Waverly; and brother-in-law, Wesley (Marlys) Foster of Waverly. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son and daughter-in-law, David (Sharron) Foster; her brother, Floyd Moeller; three sisters-in-law, Madeline Pothast, Elinor Foster and Shirley Lindner; and two brothers-in-law, Duane and Merrill Foster. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2017, at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly with Pastor Larry Trachte officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 pm on Thursday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly. Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Waverly. Memorial may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice Waverly office or to the family. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly is assisting the family.
