Wednesday, June 1,1994 at the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, Monticello with burial in the Wayne Zion Cemetery. The Rev. Eugene Schipper will officiate at the services. Ruth Rieken of Monticello died Sunday, May 29, of cancer in her home. Ruth Ethel Andrews was born Oct. 20, 1928 at Center Junction, the daughter of Ora and Marjorie Soper Andrews. She received her education in the Center Junction schools, where she graduated in 1947. On February 16, 1947 she married Lawrence Rieken at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. The couple farmed in the Scotch Grove area for several years. In 1957, they started fanning in Wayne Township where they lived until moving to Monticello in 1988. Mrs. Rieken also worked at Georgia Pacific for 15 years. She was a member of Wayne Zion Lutheran Church and Sarah Circle. She served as quilting chairwoman for 25 years. Survivors include her husband, Lawrence: five children and their spouses: William and Nancy Rieken of Cedar Rapids, Thomas and Donna Rieken of Springfield, Mo., Marjorie and Steve Schneiter of Monticello, Linda and Ken Duncan of Coralville, Patricia and Jody Krueger of Iowa City; 12 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; her mother, Marjorie Andrews of Monticello; a sister, Dolores Townsend of Marion, Ohio and a brother, Glen Andrews of Pequot Lakes, Minn. She was preceded in death by her father, a brother Buehl J. and a sister, Ora Mae Plueger. Casket bearers were Phil Owen, Jeffrey Owen, Ed Eilers, Harlan Johnson, David Lasley and Everett Tobiason. Goettsch Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
