She was born on May 20, 1910 in Phillips, South Dakota but lived in the Adams, NE. area most of her life. She and Clarence Gottula were married on June 16, 1935 in Adams, NE. Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at the First United Methodist Church in Adams, NE. Ruth E. Gottula, 93 years of age, of Adams, NE. passed away at the Gold Crest Retirement Center in Adams, NE. Saturday morning, November 8, 2003. She was born on May 20, 1910 in Phillips, South Dakota but lived in the Adams, NE. area most of her life. She and Clarence Gottula were married on June 16, 1935 in Adams, NE. She taught school at the Hooker and Wooden Shoe Schools near Adams, NE. and had been the postmistress in Adams for 3 years. She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Adams, NE. and the women's circle at the church. She had been a member of the Eastern Star, Adams Library Board of Directors, and member of the Adams Women's and Garden Clubs. She was a member and received a 50 year pin of the Road Carriers Auxiliary and was a charter member and received her 20 year pin of the Adams Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and her grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter Sharon Wusk and her husband Larry of Citrus Heights, CA.; 3 grandchildren, Mike Wusk and his wife Mary Beth, Lynne Hull and her husband Kenneth, and Jeffrey Wusk; 6 great grandchildren; and a sister Phyllis Finkner and her husband Dr. Dick Finkner on Minden, NE.; She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Ethel (Young) Hefty; husband Clarence Gottula (1985); and 3 brothers. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at the First United Methodist Church in Adams, NE. with Reverend Alan Gager officiating. Interment will be in the Highland Cemetery, Adams, NE. The body will lie in state Monday from 10:00 A.M.-9:00 P.M. at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Adams and at the church one hour preceding the service. A family prayer service will be held at 10:45 A.M. Tuesday at the church. A memorial has been established to the church and Gold Crest Retirement Center with Kent Krause in charge. Messages of condolence may be sent to [email protected] They will be forwarded to the family. The Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Adams is in charge of the services.
