Ruth was born on February 4, 1924, to Emma (Meyer) and Otto A. Friedrich in rural St. Edward (Boone County) Nebraska. Read More	Ruth Ebinger, of Fountain Hills and Flagstaff, Arizona, and formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died peacefully at Fountain View Village on Monday, April 10, 2006, after a long illness. Ruth was born on February 4, 1924, to Emma (Meyer) and Otto A. Friedrich in rural St. Edward (Boone County) Nebraska. She graduated from Albion High School in 1941, and worked for the telephone company in Omaha and attended classes at Omaha Municipal University for several years. She married Donald R. Ebinger on March 20, 1948 at Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church. While making a home and raising her family in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Ruth attended Coe College and sang in the Cedar Rapids Civic Chorus while also volunteering at St. Luke´s Hospital, in the Cedar Rapids Public Schools, and in several ministries of Salem Evangelical United Brethren and First Lutheran Churches. She and Don were very involved in the Coe College community where they sponsored a student scholarship fund and made regular connections with student recipients. On retirement, Ruth and Don moved to Fountain Hills and after enjoying a number of winters here became Arizona residents in 1999 in order to enjoy the desert and mountain climate year-round. Over the years, Ruth enjoyed gardening, especially learning about the distinctive flora and fauna of the state´s desert and mountain areas. Ruth also took pleasure in reading, opera, classical, and church music, and other modes of life-long learning. With her husband Don, Ruth traveled in North and Latin America as well as Europe. Ruth was an active member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, offering hospitality to family, friends, and business associates. . Always a high priority of Ruth´s was staying connected with treasured family and friends across the country. She is survived by her husband Donald of Fountain Hills and Flagstaff; her children and their families: daughter Elizabeth, son-in-law, Bret, and granddaughter Karin Boesen of Penn Yan, New York; and son David, daughter-in-law Tinka Sack, and granddaughter Bina Mae Ebinger-Sack, of Perth, Australia; a sister, Ann Brown of Staunton, Virginia, two brothers Otto and Grant Friedrich of Newman Grove, Nebraska; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Fae Ohlmann. She will be missed by her family and friends.
