Funeral services were held Saturday, March 20, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church in Ida Grove, under the direction of the Christensen-Huffman Funeral Homes. The Reverend Russ Barnett officiated, with burial in the Ida Grove Cemetery. Born April 8, 1918, in Ida Grove, Iowa, Ruth Frances Rohlf was the daughter of George and Fannie (Sheldon) Hoffman. She grew up and received her education in Ida Grove, graduating from Ida Grove High School in 1935. On December 24, 1942, Ruth was united in marriage to Donald Rohlf in Junction City, Kansas. The couple made their home on a farm near Ida Grove and raised their four children, Phyllis, Charles, Judy, and Roger. Ruth retired in 1978, when the couple moved to town. Ruth was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church where she volunteered much of her time and was active in United Methodist Women. She was dedicated to family activities and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchild. Ruth enjoyed reading and crocheting, creating a special afghan for each of her grandchildren. Survivors include four children, Phyllis (Jim) Ketring of Tucson, AZ, Charles Rohlf and special friend Jean Friedrichsen of Ida Grove, Judy (Paul) Wenz of West Des Moines, and Roger (Marilyn) Rohlf of Ames; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by three sisters, Barb Finch and Sarah (John) Holst, both of Ida Grove, and Marjorie Rice of Holstein; and a brother, George Hoffman of Ida Grove. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Donald on August 8, 1985; her parents; a daughter-in-law, Rhonda Rohlf; and a sister, Margaret Nicholson. ------------------- she was a member of the American Legio Auxiliary, Ida Grove, Iowa, Unit 61.
