Read More	Sarah Holst, age 85, of Ida Grove, Iowa, died Thursday, April 21, 2011, at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove. Born November 15, 1925, in Ida County, Iowa, Sarah Ann Holst was the daughter of George and Fannie (Sheldon) Hoffman, Sr. She grew up and received her education in Ida Grove, graduating from Ida Grove High School in 1943. Sarah was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist faith. She was active in 4-H and won numerous awards showing cattle at the fair. On June 10, 1946, Sarah was united in marriage to John F. Holst at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove. The couple was blessed with two sons, James and Robert. In earlier years, Sarah cooked at the Battle Creek school. She then worked at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove, first as cook and progressing to kitchen supervisor. She retired after serving the community for 29 years. Sarah was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove. She enjoyed playing cards and games, traveling with her sisters and brothers-in-law, and attending family events. Sarah had a love of music and could play the piano and organ by ear. Coin collecting, Matchbox cars, college football, and spending time with her grandchildren were among her favorite pastimes. Survivors include her husband, John; two sons and their wives, James and Ann Holst of Ida Grove, and Robert and Rachel Holst of Des Moines; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, George Hoffman of Ida Grove; two sisters, Barb Finch of Ida Grove, and Marjorie Rice of Holstein; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Margaret Nicholson and Ruth Rohlf; a sister-in-law, Ruth Hoffman; and four brothers-in-law, Ralph Finch Jr., Oscar Rice, Donald Rohlf, and Dale Nicholson.
