Description	:	Ruth Grace Murphy Gibbel was born May 16, 1916 in Exline, Appanoose County, Iowa to Roy Alan Murphy and Lucy Edith Pike Murphy. She passed away at the age of 101. On September 16, 1944 Ruth married the love of her life John H. "Jack" Gibbel and they were married for 53 years until his death. Ruth had a wonderful sense of humor and a LOVE for her family that had no limits or boundaries. She also had great determination and strength. Read More	Ruth Grace Murphy Gibbel was born May 16, 1916 in Exline, Appanoose County, Iowa to Roy Alan Murphy and Lucy Edith Pike Murphy. She passed away at the age of 101. On September 16, 1944 Ruth married the love of her life John H. "Jack" Gibbel and they were married for 53 years until his death. Ruth had a wonderful sense of humor and a LOVE for her family that had no limits or boundaries. She also had great determination and strength. Ruth loved gardening, cooking, baking, camping, boating and fishing plus watching football with her family especially her favorite team "The Kansas City Chiefs." She also loved drinking her coffee. She was extremely active in her church for most of her life, playing the piano, singing and she also held the position of church secretary and treasurer for many years. Ruth was a friend of all and lived her life as her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ would have done. Anyone who came in contact with Ruth for any length of time was blessed immensely and walked away a better person for knowing her. Our Hearts are Heavy in our loss of her on this earth, we however are Rejoicing that she is in Heaven with Jesus and the family and friends who went on before her. She was preceded in death by her parents Roy Alan and Lucy Edith Pike (Archer) Murphy, her loving husband John H. "Jack" Gibbel, daughter Diane Joan Gibbel Martin, son Richard Carroll "Sonny" Barth, and all her siblings. She is survived by daughter Melissa Gibbel Parrish of Des Moines, Grandchildren Richard Carroll Barth Jr (Maria) of Des Moines, Iowa, Victoria Lynn Barth Hutek (Rick) Dexter, Iowa, Bodhi Grayson Barth (Amanda) of Colfax, Ia, Edie Anne Barth Stowers (Justin) of Des Moines, Dan Martin (Sonyia) Gautier, Mississippi, Don Martin (Missy) of Des Moines, David Martin of Des Moines, Gloria Tinlin of Des Moines, J.D. Gibbel Des Moines, Iowa, Jaslynn McCauley of Des Moines, cousin James Blaine Pike Jr. , cousin Toy Waterman of Des Moines, daughter in law Karen Barth Kaufman (Jim) of Redfield, Niece Cindy DeGraw (Jim) of Grand River, Iowa. Lester Brewer of Des Moines Iowa,18 great grandchildren, 9 great, great grandchildren, and 1 great, great, great grandchild as well as many other loving family members and friends. The family will be having a private service for her followed by a cremation. There will be a celebration of her amazing life and burial of her remains at a later date to be announced.
