Description	:	ANSON, ME -- It is in great sadness that we announce the passing of Ruth Helen Fish Moore. Ruth left us on June 1, 2009, at 92 years old. She was born to John N. and Bessie (Taylor) Fish on Oct. 12, 1916. She was a descendant of Nathan Fish, who was one of the early settlers of Starks in 1748. Ruth lived her entire life in Anson and was raised on a farm with seven siblings, where they grew vegetables and raised chickens and cows for the local market. Her school years were in a local one-room schoolhouse. She married... Read More	ANSON, ME -- It is in great sadness that we announce the passing of Ruth Helen Fish Moore. Ruth left us on June 1, 2009, at 92 years old. She was born to John N. and Bessie (Taylor) Fish on Oct. 12, 1916. She was a descendant of Nathan Fish, who was one of the early settlers of Starks in 1748. Ruth lived her entire life in Anson and was raised on a farm with seven siblings, where they grew vegetables and raised chickens and cows for the local market. Her school years were in a local one-room schoolhouse. She married Meredith M. Moore on March 26, 1934. They had six children: Weston, Maxell, William, Inez, Edith and one child who had died at birth. She worked in the woods beside her husband for many years. She then worked at Dexter Shoe Shop in Madison and later as a maid at Lakewood Theatre, where she met many movie stars. In her 60s and 70s she picked apples and helped her daughter and son-in-law at the fairs, always with a keen mind and excellent memory. She was a very hard worker and a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She always found the time to take family or friends to doctor appointments, shopping or to get groceries, especially on Thursdays with her special niece and close friend Shirley Leeman. Her favorite things to do were picking berries with her daughter and grandchildren, going to stock car races to watch her sons and grandsons race, and of course bingo, where she had many, many friends. Ruth was predeceased by husband Meredith; son Weston "Sonny"; an infant son; grandson William Moore Jr.; great-granddaughter Janelle Couture; daughter-in-law Patricia Moore; siblings Jennie Morse, Edna Horne, Mable Locke, Cordelia Fortune, Corey Fish and Edith Jackson; and parents John N. and Bessie Fish. Ruth is survived by two sons and their spouses, Maxell and Robin Moore of Skowhegan and William and Helen Moore of Anson; two daughters and their spouses, Inez and Raymond Moody of Anson and Edith and Mike Kenney of Skowhegan; one brother, Nelson Fish of Waterville; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mom, Gram, Great-Gram, Great-Great Gram, Aunt -- this family of more than a hundred will sadly miss you -- and never forget the special moments that we shared with you. We love you. A special thanks to Katie and the nursing staff who went above and beyond at Cedar Ridge Nursing Home. Visitation and funeral service will take place Wednesday, June 3, from 1 to 2 p.m., with the service beginning at 2 p.m. at Giberson Funeral Home, 40 Maple St. in Madison.
