Ruth Janke, daughter of Gottfried and Elizabeth (Denning) Janke was born November 23, 1922 at rural Venturia, ND. She is the third youngest of 15 sisters and brothers. Ruth was baptized on March 29, 1923. Ruth was united in marriage to Edwin Glaesmann on March 10, 1940 and they moved to Scotland, SD. In 1941, they moved to Greely, CO. In 1942 they moved to Eureka, SD and later farmed north of Ashley. From there they moved to Lehr, ND for a time and in 1944 they moved to Ashley. Ruth was a housewife and helped with many chores while farming. She enjoyed working for several area Ashley residents as a housekeeper. Later, she was hired at the Ashley Medical Center working in the laundry, kitchen and housekeeping departments. Ruth also did custodial work for McIntosh County Bank and Ashley Dental Clinic. Ruth enjoyed cooking, gardening, embroidery and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed dancing, playing the piano and singing. She is survived by her children, Betty Waliser of Ashley, Larry Glaesmann of Ashley, Linda Knoblich of Lehr, and Steven Glaesmann of Ashley; one sister, Erna Kiesz of Lodi, CA; 21 grandchildren, 12 great-granchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Keith, two grandchildren, David and Kevin, one son-in-law, Ivan Knoblich, and 13 brothers and sisters. Casketbearers will be, Paul Waliser, Jonathan Knoblich, Bryan Knoblich, Eric Glaesmann, Nicholas Knoblich and Mark Janke. Carlsen Funeral Home of Ashley has been entrusted with arrangements.
