Description	:	Big Timber Pioneer, April 8, 1992 Ruth Louis (Beley) Goosey passed away in her home north of Big Timber, March 31, 1992. She was the daughter of Louis and Amelia (Rudd) Beley. A native of Big Timber, Ruth was born in her parents' home on November 8, 1914, the fourth of five children. She graduated from Sweet Grass County High School. Ruth and John Goosey were married from August 8, 1937, until his death July 12, 1987. A lifetime resident she was known by many people in the area. She was often called upon pertaining to matters concerning area history. Ruth and John Goosey were married from August 8, 1937, until his death July 12, 1987. A lifetime resident she was known by many people in the area. She was often called upon pertaining to matters concerning area history. She had a wide variety of interests including music and literature, Ruth played several instruments and played many years with the Big Timber band. She and John played, recorded and cataloged over 40 songs for the enjoyment of their friends and family, The selections played at the memorial service were some of these. She was an avid reader and worked as a librarian in Big Timber's Carnegie Library for a number of years. As a nature enthusiast, she had flocks of birds visiting her feeders at all times of the year. With her family, she collected and identified hundreds of butterflies, some of which had never before been collected. Ruth was a member of the Big Timber Rifle and Pistol Club and was Montana State Small Bore Rifle Champion in 1952, competing against both men and women. Ruth is survived by four children, three sons, Louis, John and Bret; and one daughter, Averil Strand. She has five grandchildren; one great-grandchild and another expected in June. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Art and Hans (Bunny), and is survived by two sisters, Lena Duncan and Jeannette Jackson. Memorial Services were held Sunday, April 5, 1992, at Lowry Funeral Home in Big Timber with the Reverend James Holmlund from the Big Timber Lutheran Chuch officiating.
