Ruth Poston, daughter of Russell Manning Rankin and Madge Lurene (White) Rankin, was born in Red Oak Oct. 9, 1934. She graduated from Red Oak High School in 1952. Read More	Ruth Lurene Poston, 80, Villisca, died May 16, 2015, at the Villisca Good Samaritan Society Center. Ruth Poston, daughter of Russell Manning Rankin and Madge Lurene (White) Rankin, was born in Red Oak Oct. 9, 1934. She graduated from Red Oak High School in 1952. On Oct. 2, 1954, she married Paul Walter Poston at the Broadway United Methodist in Council Bluffs. They had four children. Before Ruth was married, she worked for Dr. Wolfe, D.D.S., in Red Oak. She also worked at the Villisca Good Samaritan and Stanton Care Center. Ruth was the Villisca Senior Citizen Center manager for 25 years, from 1987-2012. She enjoyed working with the people and developed many close relationships with those who came to the center. She also helped implement S.H.A.R.E., the Self-Help and Resource Exchange, for the city of Villisca. She received the State of Iowa Volunteer Award in 2004 for more than 3,000 hours of community service. Ruth enjoyed music and was a member of several community choirs over the years. She liked reading, traveling, kids and musical theatre. She was a lifetime member of the Villisca United Methodist Church, sang in the church choir, was involved in Women's Circle and served as a Sunday school teacher and a Methodist Youth Fellowship Sponsor. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; parents, Russell and Madge Rankin; in-laws, Malcolm and Florence Poston; and brother in-law, Roger Poston. She is survived by her four children, Mark Poston and fiancée Jeanne Krenk, Lincoln; Sara Eckhoff and husband John, Sioux City; Russell (Rusty) Poston and wife D'Ann, Bedford; and grandsons, Paul and Dalton, Bedford; Darin Poston, Kansas City; sister, Sara Guthrie; sister-in-law, Mary Lynn Poston; nephews and niece and many friends. Memories of Ruth were shared during a visitation with the family Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at the Villisca United Methodist Church. Services were at the Villisca United Methodist Church Wednesday, May 20, 2015, with the Rev. Gordon Scott officiating, assisted by Rev. Missy Brown of Keokuk. Interment was in the Villisca Cemetery. On behalf of the Poston family, we wish to express our gratitude for the many acts of kindness evidenced in thought and deed and for your attendance at this celebration of life for our mother.
