Born on June 5, 1925 in Hicksville, Ruth was the daughter of the late Archie and Marjorie (Kapp) Hathaway. Ruth was a 1943 graduate of Hicksville High School. In 1943, she married Paul Sholl and he died in 1949. In 1951, she married Max Hitt and he preceded her in death in 1981. Ruth held many jobs in her working career. Hitt, 93, of Hicksville, died Monday, March 11, 2019 at Hickory Creek at Hicksville. Born on June 5, 1925 in Hicksville, Ruth was the daughter of the late Archie and Marjorie (Kapp) Hathaway. Ruth was a 1943 graduate of Hicksville High School. In 1943, she married Paul Sholl and he died in 1949. In 1951, she married Max Hitt and he preceded her in death in 1981. Ruth held many jobs in her working career. She worked at Mentzers 5&10 Store in Hicksville, March Field Air Base in California, International Harvester in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Cromwell’s Foodland Grocery in Hicksville and she retired from the Hicksville Grade School. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Hicksville. Ruth is survived by her son, David (Joanie) Sholl of Ft. Wayne; daughter, Gayle (Bob) Yoder of Hicksville; five grandchildren; Megan (Todd) Raines, Haley (Darin) Roberts, all of Ft. Wayne, Staci (Jonathan) Rue of Lancaster, California, Kristi (Jesse) Houghtalen of Indianapolis, Indiana, Natali (Wes) Sutermeister of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; twelve great grandchildren; and a sister in law, Nellie Hathaway She was preceded in death by her brother, Bob Hathaway. Funeral services for Ruth will be Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at 1:00 p.m with Pastor Jack Teeple officiating. Visitation will take place two hour prior, all at Smith & Brown Funeral Home. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville.
