Description	:	Ruth Harshbarger Ruth M. Harshbarger, 92, of Salem died Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at Prairie Ridge Care Center in Mediapolis. Born May 23, 1917, in New London, she was the daughter of Joseph Adrian and Mabel May Beer Bell. On Nov. 30, 1939, she married Harold K. Harshbarger in Salem. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Harshbarger taught country school at Maple Grove and had worked at the Salem Grocery Store and the Houghton school. She was a graduate of Salem High School. Harshbarger, 92, of Salem died Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at Prairie Ridge Care Center in Mediapolis. Born May 23, 1917, in New London, she was the daughter of Joseph Adrian and Mabel May Beer Bell. On Nov. 30, 1939, she married Harold K. Harshbarger in Salem. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Harshbarger taught country school at Maple Grove and had worked at the Salem Grocery Store and the Houghton school. She was a graduate of Salem High School. She was a member of Salem Friends Church, Salem Kitchen Band, American Legion Auxiliary, Salem Saddle Club and a past member of the Salem Library Board. Survivors include three sons, Bill Harshbarger of Fort Madison, Larry Harshbarger of Burlington and Kent Harshbarger of Mediapolis; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, twins at birth, two brothers including her twin brother, and two sisters. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Murphy Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. The funeral for Mrs. Harshbarger will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Salem Friends Church with the Rev. Tom Palmer officiating. Burial will be in Salem South Cemetery. Memorials have been established for Salem Friends Church and the Salem Library.
