Description	:	Ruth Marian (Schoonover) Parr was born in 1834. She married Leonard Parr. They had one son, William, who was the oldest of four children. After William came Emma, then Ella May, and Alice was the youngest. When Alice was a few days old, Ruth became ill with brain fever. Leonard was forced to separate his family. A family named Shafer adopted William, a family named Beltnap took Emma. Ruth went to Mt. Pleasant for care. She lingered a few years and died sometime in the early 1860s. Leonard was forced to separate his family. A family named Shafer adopted William, a family named Beltnap took Emma. Ruth went to Mt. Pleasant for care. She lingered a few years and died sometime in the early 1860s. Her daughter Alice did not know where she was buried, but there was a graveyard by Mt. Pleasant. The Parr's owned a good farm and had considerable property, but with his home ties being broken and his family scattered, Leonard became discouraged and restless. He went with a cousin to California to the gold mines. Later, while he was on a large ship on his way back home, Leonard was taken sick and died. They buried him at sea. His daughter, Alice, learned this when she was 72 years old.
