Description	:	The Rev. Howard Dixon officiated services Thursday, July 26 for Ruth Marie Thackrey, 76, who passed away July 19 in Orem, Utah. Interment was in Ainsworth Cemetery. Music for the service was provided by Blanche Honnen and Deanna Taylor. Ruth Marie Thackrey was born to Frank and Gertrude Keim on October 6, 1902 in Union County, Iowa and passed away in Orem, Utah at the age of 76 years. Ruth Marie Thackrey was born to Frank and Gertrude Keim on October 6, 1902 in Union County, Iowa and passed away in Orem, Utah at the age of 76 years. When a young child she and her brother Clair came with their parents to Cherry County, Nebraska where they homesteaded. Schools were few and many miles from the homestead but if was there she obtained her elementary education. Later the family moved to a farm north of Johnstown. Nebr. She attended school in Johnstown, Ainsworth and Valentine. She graduated from the Valentine High School in 1921. She taught in the rural schools of Brown County for several years. In 1926 she was united in marriage to Lee Thackrey. To this union two sons were born: Don of Ann Arbor, Mich. and Dean of Rancho Santa Fe, California. In 1942 she returned to the teaching profession and was teacher and principal of the Valentine Elementary School for several years. In 1953 she moved to Keokuk, Iowa where she taught 2nd grade tor 11 years. She obtained her degree from University of Nebraska in 1954. Much sacrifice was required by her to earn this degree. She taught during the winter and attended college in the summer. She retired in 1964 and returned to Ainsworth to make a home for her father. Ruth was a devoted, loving mother, grandmother and sister. She loved children and during her retirement years did much to help children that were having difficulty with school work. She leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Don and Dean, a daughter-in-law, Merry Thackrey; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; a sister, Fern Orr; brothers; Ray Keim and Ralph Keim, all of Ainsworth; brothers Dale Keim, of Provo, Utah, and Erwin Keim of Payette, Ida., plus numerous relatives and a host of friends.
