Description	:	Ruth Marilyn Moritz, 85, of Vermillion, South Dakota, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2014, at Sanford Vermillion Hospital. Ruth was born on August 4, 1929 in Clay County, South Dakota to Jay and Blanche (Peterson) Jenson. Read More	Ruth Marilyn Moritz, 85, of Vermillion, South Dakota, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2014, at Sanford Vermillion Hospital. Ruth was born on August 4, 1929 in Clay County, South Dakota to Jay and Blanche (Peterson) Jenson. Ruth started her life in South Dakota near the small community of Westerville growing up on a farm south of Westerville. She attended a rural school north from the farm. On her first day of school, her mother walked part of the way and then sent her on. Little Ruth went on for a short distance, Then turned to see where Mom was. She was headed home so Ruth took the opportunity and started to follow Mom home. She was discovered and was taken back to school. Later on, she attended school in Meckling and graduated there. At the age of nineteen, she married the love of her life, Francis “Fritz” Moritz, on March 23, 1948. They began their life together on a farm north of Meckling. Later on, they moved their family to a farm southwest of Vermillion. They remained happily married until his passing on July 15, 1995. She wasn’t just a homemaker. Although her ability to turn out outstanding meals and desserts, made it easy when Dad needed help during harvest time. They knew they would be fed very well. She also took an active role in the day to day operation on the farm, by helping with the field work, milking, feeding cattle, maintaining the house, and raising a son and a daughter. This went on until the day Fritz died. She then took over management of the farm until her retirement and moved into town. She is survived by her son, Douglas Moritz of Vermillion, and her daughter and son-in-law, Julie (Bob) Hermann of Buffalo City, Wisconsin; her grandchildren, Matthew (Lynsie) Moritz, Mitchell Moritz, Michael Moritz, Rob (Cari) Hermann, Chris Hermann, Mark (Andrea) Hermann, Joel Michelle) Hermann, and Tim (Jada) Hermann; her great-grandchildren, Grayson Moritz, Cora Moritz, Evan Hermann, Camille Hermann, Wil Hermann, and Lex Hermann; her nephew, Roger (Pat) Tigert of Vermillion, South Dakota and their children, Rob Tigert, Phil (Jamie) Tigert) and Teresa (Larry) Janssen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fritz Moritz; and her parents; her brother, Otto Jenson & her sister, Frances Austin. [Courtesy: Kober Funeral Home]
