Ruth departed this life on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at the Thayer County Health Services in Hebron, Nebraska at the age of 85 years. Ruth was baptized and confirmed at the Church of Christ in Davenport, NE. Ruth went to grades K-12 at Davenport, She excelled in Drama and Music. It was at a football game at the age of 14 that Ruth met Leroy Wall. They were later united in marriage on August 21, 1949 at Davenport, Nebraska. The couple celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. This union was blessed with the birth of four children, two sons Michael and Jerry and two daughters Betty and Patty. Ruth and Leroy moved to various locations including: Sutton, Edgar where Leroy worked at the Ammunition Depot near Hastings; Grand Island, Denver, Colorado where they owned and operated Wall’s Lawn Service and moved back to Davenport, NE in 1993. Ruth had various jobs throughout her life time including: telephone operator, waitress, nurse aide, telephone assembler and bookkeeper. Organizations she belonged to included: VFW, American Legion, and Woman's Club. Some of her favorite activities were square dancing and reading. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Leroy on August 25, 2014 and her sons Jerry and Michael. Survivors include her daughters: Betty Zimmerman of Henderson, CO, Patricia Hanson of Grand Junction, CO; 18 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; sisters: Delores DeVore, and Sue Wenger and a brother, Kerry Mersch; nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends. Memorial services will be held this Tuesday 11:00 AM, June 27, 2017 at the Church of Christ in Davenport, NE. Pastor Ron Shields will be officiating. Inurnment will be held in the Edgar Cemetery, Edgar, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family at wsmfh.com.
