Description	:	Ruth N. Schnieder, 77, of Hallam died Thursday, March 27, 1997 in Lincoln. She was born September 24, 1919 to Russell and Mabel Goodwin in Fullerton. She grew up in Genoa and graduated from Genoa High School in 1937. She then attended and graduated from St. Paul Business School. She worked for Davison Drug in Genoa and then the Long Beach Naval Air station in California between 1942 and 1946. She married Orin Schnieder on June 13, 1948 at the Genoa Congregational Church. Ruth worked for Floyd Steinmeyer at the IGA in Hallam. She was a member of the Genoa Congregational Church, the American Legion Auxiliary for more than 35 years, the Hallam Home Makers, the Service Circle, Hallam Secret Pals, and was a member of Hallam UCC Choir. She enjoyed music and dancing, made hand-painted plates and enjoyed some gardening. She was fond of saying, "We are put on this earth to help others." She is survived by her husband, Orin of Hallam; son, Ron Schnieder of Lincoln; daughter, Lynnette Schnieder of Hallam; sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris and Richard Thimgan of Grand Island; Margaret and Don Kiser of Columbus; aunt, Verl Beach at Corvalis, Oregon; seven nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother. Funeral services were held March 31 at the Hallam Congregational Church with the Rev. Charles Fisch officiating. Virginia Schuerman was the organist. Interment was in the Hallam Community Cemetery. Pallbearers were John Kiser, Jerry Jensen, Roger Wall, Loren Engelhart, Leon Wittstruck, and Robert Irish. Kuncl Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Memorials are to the Hallam Congregational Church. Source: The Crete News, April 2, 1997
