She was born March 22, 1916, in Center Junction, Iowa, to Ohmer and Flossie (Sinkey) Henderson. She graduated from Belle Fourche High School in 1934 and attended the Rapid City School of Business for one year. Ruth worked for the U&I Sugar factory in Belle Fourche for several years. Ruth married Ernest Raber in 1953 and they ranched together for 18 years near Colony, Wyo. Ruth gave up ranching in 1978 and traveled the country, eventually settling with her daughter Jonene for 13 years. Ruth was an original member of the Belle Fourche Cowboy Band, playing at several area events. She was also a member of the Colony Womens Club and a 4-H leader for numerous years, teching leather craft to most all of the Colony area youth. She was always there to help her neighbors and friends. She was most at home with her family and helping her husband on their ranch. Ruth is survived by four children, Carol Ann and Bob McCartney, Austin, Texas, Wayne Raber and Linda Welch, Sand Springs, Jonene and Bill Akins, Waxahachie, Texas, and Kim and Frederick Pepe, Vance AFB, Enid, Okla.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dale Henderson and Ohmer Henderson Jr., both of Belle Fourche; and one sister, Dorothy Moore, Rapid City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; one grandson; one sister; and one brother. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the St. Francis Hospice, 6600 South Yale Ave., Suite 350, Tulsa, Okla.
