At the age of thirteen she moved with her parents to a home near Humboldt. She professed a hope in Christ in her thirteenth year and united with the Poplar Grove Baptist church in Humboldt of which she remained a faithful member and performed whatever work there was to do cheerfully. Bessie, as she was familiarly known to her many friends, was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need and to say a kindly word. She was stricken with her last illness five weeks ago and suffered intensely but bore it without a murmur and was ready to go when called at 5:15 a.m., Thursday morning, March 17th. She was 26 years and six days of age. She leaves to mourn her loss her little daughter, father, mother, four brothers and one sister, besides other relatives. Out of town relatives who came were Mr. and Mrs Brown and family, Mr. and Mrs Beezly of Chanute; Mrs. Dora Simons of Iola; Mr. Eden Stovall of Pittsburg; Mr. Wm Hamilton of Leavenworth and Lila Boyd of Independence.
