Mosgrove Huffman were held Friday at the first Methodist church at Mineral Ridge with the Rev. R. Burton Shepperd of Boone in charge. The body of the deceased was taken from Fraser from the home of the sister, Mrs. C.L. Feagin, at which place a short prayer and a few words spoken to the bereaved. The Rev. Shepperd chose as his text, psalms 46-16, “Be Still and Know That I Am God.” The thought that he was able to build from this text proved a great consolation to the bereaved husband and relatives. Miss Grace Standley and Mrs. Mable Marston furnished the music and sang the following songs: “Sometime We’ll Understand,” “We Are Going Down the Valley” and “Beckoning Hand.” The burial was in the Ridgeport cemetery, it being the request of Mrs. Huffman before she passed away that she be buried beside her mother. The pallbearers were all old friends of the family and were Fred Leininger, Daniel Lyons, Michael Lyons, Peter Weber, Fred Jackson and William Lightfoot. Sadie B. Mosgrove, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mosgrove, was born in Boone county, Iowa, August 28, 1892, and lived with her parents on a farm near Boone, all her early life. She was united in marriage with Clyde L. Huffman, February 15, 1911. They moved to Lake City, Iowa, where Mr. Huffman followed his occupation as a farmer and resided there three years. In March of this year the family moved to Marathon, Ia., the husband purchasing a farm near that place. To this union three children were born, two of whom survive, Lois Vivian and Kenneth Dean, the youngest, a baby, passed away three days after its birth, September 19, 1914. The mother gradually grew weaker after the birth and passed away September 23, 1914, being at the time of her demise 22 years and 27 days of age. She was the youngest of a family of six and as is usually the case was the most beloved. The father Robert Mosgrove, and two brothers, John of this city and Will who resides in Dodge township, and three sisters, Mrs. C.L. Feagin of Frasier, Mrs. Norah Royster of Elmore, Ia. And Mrs. Eva Hannum, who resides near Boone, remain to mourn this sudden bereavement. Mrs. Huffman was a well-known and well liked young woman and the host of friends who gathered at the last rites spoke highly of the esteem in which she was held by her friends here. The bereaved husband and family have the sympathy of the entire community in this sudden death that takes from them a most loving wife, mother, sister and daughter.
