CAL McCORMICK DIES AT LEWELLEN The death Mrs. Cal McCormick of Lewellen Monday, August 14, brought sadness to that community and to her many friends over the county. Her death came following an illness of several months, during which time all that loving hands and medical skill could do only made the remaining days of her life more happy and easy to bear. Mrs. McCormick has been a resident of that community for a longtime. As Miss Sadie Cheney she came there from Fremont and was a teacher in the old Blue creek district about forty years go. It was while she was teaching the community that he met and married the late Cal McCormick, who passed away several years ago. They made their home on a farm about three and a half miles northeast of Lewellen since that time except for short periods spent in Lincoln during the time some of the children were in school there. Mrs. McCormick was a woman with many friends and her departure will bring grief to many hearts. Six children were born to her, four of which survive, Miss Rachel having passed away a good many years ago and also one child having died in infancy. The other children are Frances Nelson of Chicago, who has been with her mother for several months, Federica Parker of North Platte, who has also been helping care for her mother for some time, Miss Gladys McCormick and Kenneth McCormick. John McCormick and Mrs. Carson McGill are children of the late Mr. McCormick by a former marriage. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist church in Lewellen of which Mrs. McCormick was a member. A large crowd gathered at the church for the services.
