Description	:	FRIENDSVILLE,MARYLAND -- Sadie Madge Friend, 100, of 31575 Garrett Highway, Accident, formerly of Friendsville, died Thursday, May 29, 1997, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville. Born Sept. 22, 1896, in Mount Lick, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late James P. and Ida Florence (Wilfong) Townsend. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Ernest Friend, March 26, 1971; a son, Woodrow; and two daughters, Betty and Helen. She was the last surviving member of a family of 11 children. Hanft, Youngstown, Ohio; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Roland E. Nairn III officiating. Interment will be in the Steele Cemetery, Friendsville. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to Northern Garrett County Rescue Squad or the Heart Fund.
