Hiner) Highland Recorder June 14, 1946 MISS SALLIE HINER With the passing of Miss Sallie Hiner, eighty-six, who died June 3rd, at her home two miles northeast of Doe Hill, the community lost its oldest resident. Miss Hiner was the last surviving member of the family of the late George and Lucinda Armstrong Hiner. She received her education in what was then known as the Academy, which was located at Doe Hill. She had a wide circle of friends, young as well a old, with many of whom she carried on regular correspondence until the last year of her life. In recent years her companions in the home were Miss Annie Siron and Mrs. George T. Kincaid and family. Through constant reading. Miss Sallie was familiar with many current books and kept informed about interests beyond her own home and community. Early in life she united with the Methodist Church and kept up an active interest in its program after she was unable to attend services. Funeral services were held from the Doe Hill Methodist Church with the pastor Rev. L. O. Rose assisted by Rev. L. M. Moffett of the McDowell Presbyterian Church The choir was made up of friends from both Doe Hill and McDowell. Highland Recorder June 7, 1946 Doe Hill News Miss Sallie Hiner, an aged lady of the community died Monday 3rd. 5 o’clock, and the funeral will be from Doe Hill Church of which she was a member. Burial will be in the family burial ground. Highland Recorder March 7, 1919 D. N. Mackey and family moved Tuesday to Miss Sallie Hiner's farm above Doe Hill.
