| Description | : | Soldado Salvador Manuel Espinosa y Lugo was born at Villa de Sinaloa, Sinaloa, New Spain (México), about 1766. He was the son of soldado José Joaquín Cayetano Espinosa y Lugo (1740?-1774) and María Serafina Lugo y Espinosa. His father came to Alta California with Portolá in 1769 and returned to Alta California with his family in 1774. Salvador enlisted as a soldado de cuera about 1778 and married María Gertrudis Valencia y Múñoz at Mission Santa Clara October 10, 1779 (SCL Marriage 00014).
