Description	:	Funeral services were held for Mrs. Knut Belgum at the South Branch church Monday, Jan. 16. Sammulina Marie Myklebust was born in Nordfjord, Norway, Dec. 18, 1866. She was the daughter of Paul and Martha Myklebust. She attended school there and was confirmed when she was 15 years of age in the Lutheran faith by Pastor Vixselsen in the Nordfjorida church. They made their... Read More	Funeral services were held for Mrs. Knut Belgum at the South Branch church Monday, Jan. 16. Sammulina Marie Myklebust was born in Nordfjord, Norway, Dec. 18, 1866. She was the daughter of Paul and Martha Myklebust. She attended school there and was confirmed when she was 15 years of age in the Lutheran faith by Pastor Vixselsen in the Nordfjorida church. At the request of her sister, Mrs. Bent Tisthammer, she and her younger sister, Caroline and John Paulson came to the United States in 1885. She was united in marriage to Knut E. Belgum in 1886. They made their home in Boone county, Nebraska on the homestead four miles east and one and one half miles south of Petersburg. To this union were born eight children, seven of which are living. Surviving are one step-son, Emil of Kimball, Mrs. Clarence O. Hale (Inga) of Poyner, Mo.; Carl of Kimball; Minnie Watts of Petersburg; Louise Lee of Denver, Colo.; Effie Caparoon of Petersburg; Selmer of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and Elmer of Petersburg. She also leaves one brother, John Paulson of Albion and one sister, Caroline Vath of Redfield, Iowa; great grandchildren to mourn her passing. Preceding her in death were her husband, Knut, who passed away July 21, 1934, one daughter, Amelia, two brothers, Valdemar and Jens Paulson and one sister, Anna, now Mrs. Bent Tisthammer. Mrs. Belgum was taken ill and entered the Lutheran hospital in Norfolk, January 8th and passed away January 11 at the age of 85 years, three weeks and four days. All of her children with the exception of Mrs. Hale were present at the last rites. Pallbearers were Andrew Tisthammer, Con Knutsen, Eli Belgum, Louris Olnes, Sever Paulson and Henning Belgum. Mrs. Martin Nore sang a solo, “Sunrise” and Mrs. Nore and Mrs. Dave Ekstrom sang two duets, “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Jesus Is Calling”. They were accompanied by Mrs. Ole Skillstad. A lunch was served to all present after the funeral in the church parlor.
