NOTE THERE ARE TWO DIFFERENT SAMUEL BARSTOWS - 1 FROM CANTERBURY & 1 FROM LEBANON Canterbury, Selectmen's Account Book, 1819-1824: June 2, 1820 pd Samuel Barstow for supplies for Mehitable Simms from: Connecticut, Wills and Probate Records, 1609-1999 for Samuel Barstow estate of Canterbury, Conn. - 10 total documents were submitted to the court. An inventory of Samuel Barstow's estate was taken on August 20, 1822 and submitted to the Plainfield Probate District Court. He was" late of Canterbury." The distribution of the estate was not settled until Dec. 3, 1827. In the distribution pages his two daughters Orra (Barstow) Bulkley and Susan Barstow are mentioned. Orra received land and/or property valued at $77, and Susan's at $152.41. Sons- Spalding at $277.41, Benjamin at $498.94, Elisha at $527.41 and John at $327.41. Roughly 3 acres to 24 acres to his children. Son, Curtis, who died in 1826, the year before the estate was settled, was mentioned in a description of land being given to Benjamin and to a land boundary "belonging to the heirs of Curtis Barstow...." One child, Simeon Barstow, was not mentioned so most likely had died and did not have heirs. He was the son of John Barstow (1724-1796) and Elizabeth Newcomb Barstow (1727-1801) who are also buried in Westminister.
