Read More	IN MEMORIAM DIED; May 17th, 1890, after a long and painful illness, Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Chambers, nee Musser, aged 71 years and 7 days. Also May 22d, 1890, Mr. Samuel Chambers , aged 76 years, 7 months and 29 days. Both Mr. and Mrs. Chambers were born in Union County, Pennsylvania, and with their parents, emigrated to Stephenson County, Illinois, the former in 1836 and the latter in 1839. Here they were united in marriage in 1841, and here they resided till 1885, when they removed to Bennet, Nebraska, that they might be near their children who had, with one exception, made this locality their home. Mr. Chambers had been very ill several months ago, but had recovered, and his friends entertained the hope that his life might be prolonged, but in his feeble condition, the loss of his beloved wife doubtless hastened his death, which came suddenly. About the time of his recovery from his previous sickness, Mrs. Chambers became ill, and through long and weary weeks suffered greatly until the end came. Thus having been spared to each other as husband and wife for almost fifty years, and both having overlived the allotted age of "three score years and ten," they, within a week, completed their earthly pilgrimage. The funeral services were held on Monday and Saturday respectfully in the M.E. church, and the large attendance of sympathizing friends on both occasions indicated the high esteem in which they were held in the community. Both Mr. and Mrs. Chambers were members of the M.E. church; he having been previous to this a member of the Presbyterian church. They were alike, earnest and consistent christians. The evidence they gave of patient, cheerful submission to the will of God, and of complete preparation for death, is a priceless legacy. Seldom is the power of the religion of Christ to beautify old age, better exemplified than in the case of these servants of God. The doubly bereaved children and friends "sorrow not, even as others which have no hope," "saved by grace through faith, they rest from their Labors and their works do follow them." "Servant of God, well done; Praise be the new employ; And while eternal ages run, Rest in thy Master's joy."
