Sherrick, 82 years old former coke and lumber operator and in later years engaged in farming in Bullskin township, died of pneumonia this morning at 1:10 o'clock at the Connellsville State Hospital. Samuel Dillenger Sherrick was born at Old Bethany, Westmoreland county, October 10, 1854. His father was Abraham H. Sherrick, head of the Pennsville Coke Company, who died in 1892. His mother, Mrs. Mary Dillinger Sherrick, died February 8, 1934, on the old farm at Pennsville in her 100th year. The family moved to Pennsville when Samuel D. was a boy. That had been his home for about three quarters of a century. In early life Mr. Sherrick was engaged with his father and brothers in the coke business. Later he developed timber properties at Hendrick, W. Va., under the name of the S. D. Sherrick Lumber Company, Inc. Since retiring from that business he had been engaged in farming adjoining the old homestead. Since 1930 he had lived on the old Sherrick homestead. He was also associated with his brothers, John D. Sherrick and the late B. T. Sherrick in the Keystone Planning Mill Company. Mr Sherrick was married to Miss Sarah E. Eutsey of Saltlick township. She died in 1928. Four sones survive, Ralph D. of Pennsville, J. Donovan of Aliquippa, George E. of Connellsville and Lawrence H. at the naval air base at Pensacola, Fla. There are also two brothers and sister, John D. Sherrick and Mrs. Ella Enos, wife of E. J. Enos of Connellsville, and E. L. Sherrick of Wilkinsburg. The body was removed to the Mitchell Funeral Chapel, where it will lie in state until Saturday evening, when it will be take to the old Abraham Sherrick homestead at Pennsville. The funeral service will be held there Sunday at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in Alverton Cemetery, Rev. Eugene Eakin of Pittsburg will officiate.
