Description	:	Samuel Edward Buchanan was born in East Garafraxa and was the youngest son of the late John and Margaret Buchanan. He spent his boyhood on a farm near the Maples, from which he moved to Orangeville to operate a bicycle sales and repair shop. Later he farmed in Caledon for some years and then moved to Toronto for a year and thence to Zealandia, Sask., in 1911. Read More	Samuel Edward Buchanan was born in East Garafraxa and was the youngest son of the late John and Margaret Buchanan. He spent his boyhood on a farm near the Maples, from which he moved to Orangeville to operate a bicycle sales and repair shop. Later he farmed in Caledon for some years and then moved to Toronto for a year and thence to Zealandia, Sask., in 1911. He farmed on a large scale in the Zealandia district in Sasketchewan until 1927, when he disposed of his farm interests and retired to live in Saskatoon. His wife, formerly Miss Letitia Sproul, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Sproul, of Orangeville, died in Saskatoon in 1932. Since her demise Mr. Buchanan had divided his time between Saskatoon and Orangeville, making his home with Mrs. White, an old-time neighbour and friend while staying in Dufferin County. A genial, pleasant mannered man, genuine in his friendships, he had many warm friend hereabouts, who will keenly regret his passing. His loss is mourned by an only son, John Buchanan, of Saskatoon who is here for the funeral, and half brother, Thos. A. Buchanan, of London Beach, Calif. The funeral was held from Turner Funeral Parlor to the family plot in Greenwood cemetery. Mr. Buchanan was a member of St. Andrew’s United Church and the pastor, Rev. C.F. McIntosh, had charge of the services. The pallbearers were Messrs. Chas. And Will Gillespie, J.B. Irwin, A.D. Glover, Wm. Johnston (Toronto) and Thos. Gallagher. Samuel died suddenly of a heart attack. He was 74 years old.
