Description	:	Samuel Faris was born in Washington County, Indiana. His parents were Isaac Faris, of York County, South Carolina, and Margaret (McIntyre) Faris, of Derry, Ireland. Samuel was the eldest of Isaac and Margaret's 14 children. In the 1850s, Samuel moved to Des Moines County, Iowa in a settlement being laid out by early pioneer Cicero Hamilton. Samuel, together with his father, opened a cabinet making shop which served the town and surrounding community. This provided Samuel with a living in order to start a family of his own. His parents were Isaac Faris, of York County, South Carolina, and Margaret (McIntyre) Faris, of Derry, Ireland. Samuel was the eldest of Isaac and Margaret's 14 children. In the 1850s, Samuel moved to Des Moines County, Iowa in a settlement being laid out by early pioneer Cicero Hamilton. Samuel, together with his father, opened a cabinet making shop which served the town and surrounding community. This provided Samuel with a living in order to start a family of his own. Samuel would soon be introduced to Frances Ann Montgomery, and in 1854, the couple were married. They would raise their first 6 children in Des Moines County, near the town which would later be named Morning Sun. The family then relocated to Clarinda, Iowa in 1867 where their remaining 3 children were born. Here, the family were active members of the community and joined the Clarinda Reformed Presbyterian Church. Interestingly, Samuel's brother John Knox Faris married Eliza Montgomery, who was a cousin of Samuel's wife Frances. After many years in Clarinda, Samuel and his family moved again, this time to Jewell County, Kansas in 1881 where they lived through the 1880s. Their final move took them to their homestead in Superior, Nebraska where Samuel would spend his final years. After a very full and active life, Samuel died in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 68.
