McBratney, one of the pioneer businessmen of Great Falls and well known in this city, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Louis G. Courtois of Belt Park, near Monarch, early Thursday morning. McBratney, one of the pioneer businessmen of Great Falls and well known in this city, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Louis G. Courtois of Belt Park, near Monarch, early Thursday morning. The deceased was 62 years of age, having been born in Georgetown, Ontario, Canada, in 1856. He was reared and received his education in Ontario, coming to Great Falls in 1892 to engage in the undertaking business on First avenue north with W.C. McBratney who was the first man opening up such an establishment in Great Falls. In the year 1896 he moved to Belt where he opened an undertaking business of his own. After remaining there about a year and a half he went to British Columbia, locating in several places in the province and engaging in the hotel business. He returned to Great Falls in 1909 and has since been retired from business life. A short time ago he took up residence with his daughter, Mrs. Courtois. The late Mr. McBratney married Mary L. Flawell, Dec. 23, 1885, at Arlie, Ontario, Canada, and besides his widow he leaves to mourn his demise, five children: Mrs. Louis G. Courtois, Belt Park; Lila, Myrtle, Clifford and Robert, all of Great Falls. Also two sisters and two brothers, Miss H.B. McBratney, Mrs. Alfred Gulston, and Adam McBratney, all of Toronto, Canada, and Thomas McBratney of Winnipeg.
