Co. C. in France on August... Read More	Mr. Samuel H. Lidolph Jr. son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel H. Lidolph was born Feb. 7, 1896 on a farm south of Lincoln, and passed away suddenly the morning of July 28, 1920, while threshing. In the year 1900 the family moved to a farm just east of Hooker School House, where he resided until June 21, 1918 when he entered the service of his country in the World War; being stationed at Camp Funsten and Camp Dodge and landed with his Co. the 349 infantry, 88 Div. Co. C. in France on August 23, 1919. The day the Armistice was signed he was ready to enter the firing line. May 19, 1919 he arrived from overseas and fourteen days later the same genial big hearted boy was among us again. On July 9, 1919 he was united in marriage to Clara Hoehne , daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Hoehne, making their home on a farm southeast of Adams, where by earnest endeavor they had a splendid start in life, and then when a baby boy came into the home their joy was complete only to be dimmed by the Grim Reaper, who took a young husband away from the home. For several years he was a member of the Baracca Sunday School class of the Methodist church where he stood for that which was right and all thru life he carried the principles of a clean young manhood with him. To have met him meant the making of a friend you desired to keep. He leaves to mourn his going, a wife and infant son, a heartbroken father and mother, four brothers, three sisters and relatives, besides a host of friends without number. Funeral services were held in the Methodist church Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. A. V. Hunter, of Plattsmouth, assisted by Rev. W. L. Elliott, and were largely attended. Members of the Frederick-Steidley local post American Legion attended in a body and officiated as pallbearers. A squad from the Sterling post was also present. The legion took charge if the service after leaving the church, and a large concourse of relatives and friends joined in the procession to Highland Cemetery where the American Legion performed the sad last rites over the remains of their comrade.
